The Musée Nissim de Camondo Guest of Honor at the 3rd edition of the prestigious FAB Paris fair1 beneath the glass roof of the Grand Palais, the museum will step outside its walls into a setting specially created by artist Alexandre Benjamin Navet
To evoke without imitating the unique atmosphere of the Hôtel de Camondo, Navet has chosen to recreate, at full scale, the silhouette of the monumental white marble sculpture Venus and Cupid, which usually greets visitors in the vestibule of 63 rue de Monceau, and to design a sketched, colorful carpet echoing its checkerboard floor.
Archival photographs of Moïse de Camondo and his children, framed within mounts drawn by Navet, will be interspersed among the paintings of the collection, evoking the unbreakable bond between the collector and the fruits of his passion.
Finally, objects from the museum that are not physically on view at FAB Paris will nonetheless be present through Navet’s reinterpretation of them in painted wood.
